whats this sauce

is it french, someone at work was telling me about this, i dont even know how to spell it but it sounds like,,, stay-coppa-var,,,, thats the best i could do, does anybody know what it is,

No idea, but could it be "stay-coppa-vert," which in my limited recollection of French would mean some kind of green sauce? What's it supposed to be used for?

Need a bit more info.

A "sauce vert" is a green sauce, usually with herb flavoring (terragon, dill, parsley, or others).

One "sate" I know of is a Thai beef dish with a peanut sauce.

Interesting combination, but...


As you can see, it gets complicated without enough info.

If you get some more info, try running it on epicurious.com -- lots of recipes and most of them are pretty straightforward.
