372,791 spread across four partitions. I'm using about 135 GB out of a 200 GB drive. The bulk of it is MS Train Simulator and various downloads for MS Train Simulator. Also a fair amount of reference material and pictures.

None on the computer, but an annoying one on the monitor.

Oops sorry, misread the heading....

Thought you said flies.

Around 370,000, not many in 120gb, but mostly JPG's, Music and Video (domestic)

That's got to be a trick question... I have... at least 6 bootable computers at home, 3 I use regularly, AND a work computer... :ohgeez: I think I have an addiction to electromagnetic fields...

Ive got alot of very big files from 350Meg to 4Gigs 30Gigs of music.

Two of the 250Gigs are full of video files the thrid is random documents and junk nearly full.

The 200Gig has applications and games on it.

The 74Gig is a western digital Raptor :D which is my C:\ drive so it's got games and applications on it.

The 160Gig is of backups of some of my past C:\ drive installs.

I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to computers but I love it. :)

Probably going to do a foundation degree in Computer Tech this year. I've already got a HNC in network engineering. ;)

What command do you type in DOS or what do you do in Windblows to obtain a file count?
Go to my computer, click on the partition you're interested in, highlight all the folders and files, right click, and choose properties from the menu selection. It might take a number of seconds for the PC to total all the files. Do likewise for all the other partitions, and add the total. I'm not aware of any way to do it for all your partitions at once.

You can do the same in DOS by typing chkdsk followed by the drive letter. You'l end up with a summary similar to below:

16,707,016 KB total disk space.
2,184,132 KB in 803 hidden files.
9,108 KB in 1,985 folders.
5,569,708 KB in 29,394 files.
8,944,064 KB are available.

4,096 bytes in each allocation unit.
4,176,754 total allocation units on disk.
2,236,016 allocation units available on disk.
