Is it worth bothering with sanding the white LEDs? I've heard the red ones leave splotchy, artifacty beams, but the beam of the white ones aren't too bad at all. Unless I'm right up close looking at a white wall I don't notice the funky beams.
The colored A2 LEDs make a kind of biohazard pattern which is really unusable, IMO. I have pictures in this thread of colored A2's with sanded beams: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=100819&highlight=tune
I have sanded my white LEDs as well, though it is not needed. To me it makes a beautiful even flood and eliminates the bluish tint, though a little loss in output.
leukos: thanks for the link. i saw your pics before but was wondering if anyone else had wall shots or real life shots between the stock white vs the sanded version. ive been thinking about giving it a go since im now leaning towards a more even flood, not that i find the stock leds adequate...personal preference
