I load fresh batteries whenever the Surefire M2 (120 lumens, 20 minutes) is used for more than 15 minutes.
For general (non-emergency) use, I plan to purchase either a surefire E1L Outdoorsman (25 lumens) or L1 LumaMax (1.1 / 22 lumens). Partially depleated batteries from my M2 would be used here.
Which of the two LED's would maximize the remaining energy left on the batteries? Perhaps the L1 would still be able to use batteries that the E1L could not?
