Sure, you could build a bigger, brighter version similar in structure to a Glo-Toob.

It would cease to serve the same purpose as a low output, very compact, long runtime, marker light.

Also, when you start to add Luxeon or other high power LEDs, you now have heat to deal with and much higher power requirements.

Since its purpose is as a marker and not a source of working light, I guess the decision is how bright or big does it need to be.

2jzpower, the red glo toob has 6 LED's, the amber has 5 while green, blue and white have 3 LED's. The white one makes a neat mini-lantern. I would certainly be interested in a lithium powered luxeon "lantern", provided it still was small and had good battery life.
