Hi *,

I have a few Mini M*g Mods with lenses from
flashlightlens.com. Now I'd like to glue them
in to make the flashlight a little more waterresistent. Is there a special glue for
that?

Cheers

Ralf,
I would lean toward something that will stay somewhat flexible. If you do use epoxy, make sure it's really high quality stuff. I've seen a lot of epoxy dry up, turn yellow, and crack - especially when used on metal. I would try to go with a high performance silicon gasket adhesive.

uhh.. my advice on this is... DON'T.

If you're using "fresh" o-rings and have decent compression on them during assembly, you'll probably be fine.

In my experience, attempting to add aditional sealant usually makes it MORE suceptable to leakage..

If you decide that you just *have* to use something, I'd say to use silicone RTV sealant. It will remain flexible and can (usually) be peeled off later.

Slick,

the problem is, that in the minimag there is no
real O-ring in the top lens assembly, only one
at the threading. So I thought my SF E2E has a glued lens, therefore I'd like to glue this one
as well.

i use clear silicone sealant.
it comes with an aplicator tip that can be cut to give the desired bead size.most auto parts stores have it.

every mini-mig i've ever worked with had an o-ring between the lens and the bezel. if it's a problem with not enough pressure against the o-ring, i've had really good luck taking the stock reflector and using a dremel to cut off the outer 3/16 inch (or so) to use as a spacer between the head,spacer,lens,o-ring, bezel.

Ralf - It sounds like you've lost one of your bezel's O-rings. There should be a thin one between the lens & bezel and another one on the head where the lip on the bezel screws down.

.. ups

Now that I took apart my mag again I noticed really there is an o-ring, but I haven't seen it.
I am not very confident with this little bugger,
but I think I give him try. Maybe there is not
the right force at it. Let's see ...

Yesterday evening I maintained my
BB500 Mini Mag. I took some silicon grease for
the top o-ring and I am quite happy now
without glue the lens in.

Thanks for all the posts ...

Cheers
