Hi I currently have a:
L1P on AA NiMH
Golston rechargeable on 3.6V LIR123A(16340) from dae

I am currently looking for a torch with the greatest throw (for outdoor use) and another torch with the brightest flood (for indoor use) which can handle and fit:
16340
17650
18650
AA or AAA NiMH

I would prefer them to be regulated, with a decent runtime of 1hr+ and under $100 each if possible but brightness is the main concern. oh yeah and what is the Brightest single cell 3.6V(4.2 freshly charged) LIR123A torch...Would P1 be 1 of the brightest or are there other ones which can handle the extra voltage? Can anyone help me with this?

Thx

Hello Yapo and welcome at CPF:)

About the single cell light:

About the brightest Led lights:

The brightest ones are multiple Led lights. The high end customs you can't get for the money you want to spend, but IMO it's worth to spend more.

Take a search about them.
Take a look at Elektolumens "Little Friend". About 100$.

Best regards

Hi Yapo,

The Streamlight ProPolymer 4AA Luxeon is a GREAT light and a tremendous value. It costs about $28 and has great throw and overall output. There is no other LED light in its price range with comparable output, and this light is as tough as they come. It could run on AA rechargeables.

The Peak Rainier has great throw for a small single cell R123A light. It costs in the mid $80 range.

I also use a Pelican M1 [single cell CR123A] with a rechargeable 123A and get great results from it. It can be had for about $30.

Greatest throw full production single LED torch (I think) is the LED Logic Striker-VG. Not sure if those batteries would work, but Batteryjunction.com offers it with rechargeable RCR123As: http://www.batteryjunction.com/ledlostvgtaf1.html for $124.

Brightest LED flood under $100 might be the Nuwai TM-301X-5: http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/nuwai_tm301x5.htm Unfortunately don't know if those batteries would work in it.

The brightest and best throwing full production single-cell RCR123A torch is the Peak Ranier: http://www.peakledsolutions.com/CR123RHA3W.html I think it's the same as the "CPF Special": http://www.peakledsolutions.net/CPFSP2005.html
