Luxeon color bin question

I don't really understand the x y matrix in the binning and labeling guide for the Luxeon white LEDs. I have seen on here bin codes such as TV1J and TWOJ, so I will use these as a comparison. I understand that the TWOJ has a higher color temp than the TV1J, but what is the 1 in the TV1J? I can't even find that on the chart.

Besides not being able to find 1 in the chart, I guess I am just fairly confused on what the third designation in the white x y binning matrix is supposed to mean, and what the reasoning is for the x y chart instead of just a linear chart with a single designation.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah that helps a ton... where is that from? I wasn't able to find anything like that in Luxeons documentation.

Awesome page that i use all the time.

Eventually you will experience different bins and get to know what they are.

XO - Very white, no real tint
WO - White leaning towards yellow (Warm tint)
X1 - White leaning towards blue or green (Cold Tint)
V1 - is VERY yellow, and very pleasing

in the end, tints dont make a huge difference when light is being used outside. Unless you hunt white walls for a living, I wouldnt worry about it.

Welcome to CPF!!! Please enjoy your stay
