Hi,

I never did EDC any of my KI's because I did not want to see any signs of wear on them...
But finally these are such nice and useful lights, that one should wear and use them!

So I decided to make me a KI replica out of titanium and am searching a KI light engine for it to get it running ;)

Thanks for your help ! Jochen

With your skills, I would think that making a light engine should be a pretty simple task. Plus leds and converters have improved a lot since the KI's first came out 2 years ago.

Hi Billson,

unfortunately I only do have some mechanical skills.
Unfortunately I am not used to work with electronic components and do need the help of other specialists here.
As I want to build a complete replica of a KI I would also want to use an original KI light engine.
I still think the last ones (out of the KI-T) were VERY good :)

Jochen,

Yankee humor doesn't come through too well on CPF. ;-)

Of course, I do have my own round of Ti, and I do have my own lathe:

So, I just need to spend a year or two learning how to use it and then I can make my own KI-T-TI.

In the meantime, I'll console myself with the real thing:

I still think that an ArsMachina KI-T-Ti would look awfully nice next to that, especially since Kato doesn't seem to have any desire to make any more Ti lights.

Holy thread hijack, Batman! :)

Nice Lathe and nice light, Fred! Please tell us more about both of them.

Wouldn't that be the much ballyhooed upcoming PF-T-Ti? :grin2:

Fred's really in the Jewelry trade, guys.

Hi PhotonFanatic,

I own 5 KI's which are never used but are just standing around in my shelf.
To make a KI-Ti, I can easily take out the LE from one of these, so I do not urgently need another LE, even I would like to get one...
If I like the result, I could also offer an empty KI case for sale - for those who are having spare LE's ;)

Making a copy of a light which is the design of another person for myself is one thing, making it for other people is a completely different story in my eyes...
And finally I do like the idea of being the owner of a light, that does exist just once in the world ;)

PM. replied, I think I found one ;)

@ Robo: I believe the replica would be somewhat more expensive than the original ;)

For me scratched anodisation looks awful and in the case of the KI's I really do not want to allow any sign of wear to these rare and wonderful collector items.
I do only EDC lights made out of Titanium. As I would really like to wear a KI sometimes in my pocket I decided to make me one out of Ti for this use ...
