Last night I had to change the battery in my inova x1, but I waited to do it in the morning. When I opened it there was a kind of burning smell in it and the + contact was black. I cleand the contact with a pencil eraser and put in a new battery. Im checking it every once in a while and it still has the smell. Is this going to be a problem?

Never had anything similar with any of my X1's, and I have a few of them both old and new models and have used them a lot over the past year as they are my EDC. What type of battery are you using? I do not use rechargeables so I do not know how they might be effected.

I would suggest one of two things, replace the battery and kep an eye on it to see if anything repeats, or, take it back to where you got it, especially if it is Target. They are great lights, but even the best can have bad units, and they will take it back no questions.

Very surprising considering the X1 is such a low power light. Perhaps you had a leaking battery?
