First off greetings to all the flashaholics at this great board  as this is my first post here.
I've read about making the L1 body two cell compatible by removing the driver electronics unit from it.What I cannot make up my mind about without owning neither the L1 or a KL head(nor any Surefire product at all yet) is,if it's possible to use an unmodified KL1/KL4 head onto such a modified L1 body?

Hi and welcome to CPF!

I must admit I have never understood the point of trashing a L1 to get a 2 cell body when both E2L and L4 comes with perfectly fine 2 cell bodies. The E2L can take protected 17670 Li-Ion cells, L1 does not take protected Li-Ion cells unless you bore out the body.

Simple answer is NO.
L1 body is too short for 2x123 or 17670 with unmodified KL1/KL4 setup even if you remove the converter unit and partition.
I use my bored L1 body with 2xCR2 and spacer.

Thanks for all your input.I found the idea somehow neat, having a two stage providing two cell body, all surefire parts and a bit smaller then the standard two cell body as basis for KL1/KL4.

Greetings,Alex
