Just a quick question. Are the lenses in the SF filters and diffusers plastic or glass? I'm thinking about buying but was wondering if they will get scratched easily.

no they are actually both the ones with the camlocks on them are glass and the cheaper ones are plastic the best way to tell: retail is above 25 bucks glass, below plastic.

I figured that they would have to be some type of plastic due to the low cost. Are they more scratch resistant than the normal Mag filter sets or similar?

I feel it is important to differentiate between the various BeamFilters...

The FMx3 IR BeamFilters use glass.

The F04 and FMx4 BeamDiffusers (aka BeamShapers) use a highly specialised (and expensive) LSD® Light Shaping Diffuser featuring holographically recorded, randomized surface relief stuctures that enable High Transmission Efficiency (up to 92%), and Controlled Angular Distribution, while providing high quality Homogenised Light. The material is a 'shatter-proof' polycarbonate.

The FM Series FMx5 (red) and FMx6 (blue) BeamFilters are AR multi-coated tempered glass to maximise transmission efficiency. These coats can be scratched and it is best to be careful when cleaning them.

The F05 & F06 "E-Series" red and blue BeamFilter (current version) are polycarbonate I believe.

The FMx7 BeamCovers are HA aluminium alloy.

Al, I would be impressed if you could remember that description during a conversation at the pub! :goodjob:

strat1080,
I would highly recommend the FMxx series filters and diffusers if they fit your light, the blue filters are some of the best.
