What to do? I can send this back within 60 days for a refund, but I sort of won the luxeon lottery on this one. Now the good problem is the tailswitch. It either works or it doesn't depending on the alignment of the planets (in other words, who knows why). What should I do? I can loosen it a bit and it will work for a while, then it will stop working until I play with it again. Is there another solution I am overlooking?

From what I've heard, bend the tabs outward, and that should fix your problem. If it doesn't, call Surefire (don't email), and they'll send you a new tailcap eventually.

Do a search on "U2 tabs". You should find many posts which describe slightly bending the tabs inside the tailcap.

The tailcap on my U2 was very hard to press initially and tended to "bind" and not turn on / off. Bending the (4) tabs and a slight bit of lube compeltely fixed it.

If you have a good light otherwise, I don't suggest returning it. SF should send you a new tailcap if you find it's necessary.
