I have a product from Johnlite like this that plugs into the shavers socket in the bathroom.

They work well as a night light that comes on when dark. The only problem is that the tube only lasts a few months and dies.
The auto circuitry is already in there but I think the way it works with the ballast is quite complicated.
What would be the easiest way to run 3 or 4 5mm leds instead of the tube?
