Could you post a link or pics, I don't think anyone has mentioned this tailcap change yet.
I will, but until I do, a picture of it is in the 2006 SF catalog Page 30. Come on now, I can't be the only one who sleeps with my SF catalog (lol). FYI, a veteran once made that comment on one of my posts, so I can't take credit for it; thought it was pretty funny, though, and made me realize that maybe I need some sort of professional help.

Looking at P31 in the SF catalog (the PDF download from surefire.com), still a lanyard ring on the A2.

yup the lanyard ring is still there, its the thin black ring near the top. the actual hole to attach the lanyard was just put behind the light.
