Hello Guys!

Although I visit this board frequently, I have not posted this much.
I have not modded any flashlights yet despite soldering better LEDs in a multiple 5mm-LED Flashlight. But my soldering etc. skills are not too bad, as I successfuly did some other non- flashlight projects like this computerized charger:

This is my concern:

Recently, I purchased the UltraFire WF-601A from Dae.

I an very happy and satisfied with it. Yet, I think that one could improve it further by installing a better LED and a better circuit (not that the current components were bad, but you surely know what I'm talking about).

My idea would be to purchase a K2 emitter from eBay:

I looked what kind of step- up converter would work best and I figured out with my limited knowledge that this one might not be too bad:

500mA does not seem much for a K2, but the datasheet says that, when driven with 500mA, the voltage will be 3.5V with an output of around ~60 lumen.

I would certaily like a little more power, but I did not find any more powerful circuits that could be operated with just 2 NiXX cells.

Do you know any circuits that would give the LED more current and still work with 2 cells?

Edit: I just found this website:
http://www.obaq.tv/cpf/resistor.php

When I use 2 resistors with 0.12 ohm and 0.15 ohm, I will get about 750 mA according to the calculation.

This would be really cool!

What do you think? Does this work?

The mechanics should not be a problem. The current ZLED seems to have the same dimensions, and can be easily removed with the rest of the electronics. I already tried this.

Any help would be friendly and appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Greetings from Germany,

Julez
