100mw wicked laser mod

hi i`v mannaged to open my laser and I want to pot mod it.
i`v read things about not letting the current drawn go over about 400ma?.
how much current should I let it draw safley without cooking the diode as iv connected it to a power supply at about 2.5 volts and turned the pot up and it went up to about 800ma and i think thats too high.
so, what sort of current should I set it to and what sort of power will Iget out of it

That doesn't apply for that laser. It contains a 500mW diode and normally draws about 550mA as it is. Any adjustment will raise the draw to around 600mA+. If using a power supply I'd not use anything higher then about 2.5-3V at ~700mA. The driver board itself limits voltage to the diode to around 2.5-2.6V, so you will likely not see any change between 2.6-3V...keep it at the lowest you can while having the highest output.

i`v settled it at about 750ma and its bright too. it gets warm but i dont have it on for too long,well within the duty cycle anyway so i dont cook it..do you have any idea on how much power it is at 750ma?
