Found an Priceton VL1916 19" LCD monitor at the dump today. When running on the VGA input the image isn't centered and it has a strong red hue. Color settings in the setup menu don't change it enough, and location can't be moved much, either.

The onboard setup menu's colors are fine. And when you run on the DVI input it seems to work fine. Goes out of range on OSX splash screens, but I think that has more to do with the computer than monitor.

Any ideas? I assume there's a bad component on the VGA input section, but my knowledge of LCD driver board theory is weak. At the very least I have a good monitor for my DVI-equipped Mac.

I'd carry on using it with DVI. A lot of PC gfx cards now have DVI, so it shouldn't be a problem.

With VGA, the each colour (RGB) is sent seperatley thru each pin (connection)... You might get a pinkish hue if the blue pin got bent or broken for example. If you did take it apart, maybe check for a loose connection from the VGA port.
