As I look at various lights' beam patterns and how they end up illuminating the ground ahead I can see a lot depends on the height at which you carry your light.

In general outdoor use, how do you find yourself most often holding your light? (I am a clear "high" carrier)

1. High - by your shoulder/ear

2. Middle - by your waist. Arm hanging down but forearm bent straight out / parallel with the ground.

3. Low - by your thigh. Arm/forearm totally hanging down)

4. I'm constantly changing position based on need and have no clear "most often"

Hello lightrod:)

It depends which light I use and on the lightning situation.
Lights with tube switches I hold mostly in the kind 2.

Lights with tailcap switches 1.

In "tactical" situations I stretch my arm to the side in the high of my shoulder, a little in front of my body, so the "opponent" can't see my body and will assume me at another place.:)

Best regards

Almost always in a holster on my waist but sometimes in my pants pockets.
I use my lights for work mostly but like to have one on me always (of course).
