I'm looking for a way to add a lanyard to my Mr. Tri-X so it will be protected from a fall should it ever slip out of my hands. Before you suggest it, I am already aware of the Nite Ize Lite Ring, Clip N' Grip, as well as the Mag Lanyard Ring Tailcap. However, I'm just wondering if there is a better and "nicer" way of adding a lanyard, maybe something like a lanyard ring similar to those sold by Surefire, but for a D size Mag?

Any other suggestions?

Requires modding the tailcap,
but this is what i did to a couple of my mags.

Hole is drilled in the tailcap, and the AL lanyard attachment is epoxied in place.

That silver piece is Aluminum, and I machined it. :p

I suppose you could cut a bolt short and use that

i need to know how to mount a lanyard also...

Im thinking about edcing the 6D under the trench coat....at the minute im thinking of modifying a machete sheath to accomodate for the mag, but the drilling on the tailcap :wow:

I see a market for the silver studs:grin2:

jtice the mod you did, it messes up the waterproof factor of the light right?

It shouldn't, because he wrote:

" Hole is drilled in the tailcap, and the AL lanyard attachment is epoxied in place."

:)

tebore,

Totally water tight, I had 3 mags setup this way, two LuxIII mods, and a TriLux,
all of them spent a week straight of caving duty.

gregw,

thanks, its not hard at all,
wasnt a real elegant way of doing it, but I only had a couple days before I left on the caving trip, and wanted something quick and functional.

Where does the Leefring from LightHound attach to the D Mag? Between the tailcap and the body?

Coop57:):

"
LeefRing

Designed and built by Leef on CPF - Custom Made Tailcap Lanyard Ring for Mag® D Cell Flashlights. Fits between the body and tailcap. Provides a lanyard attachment point (lanyard not included), and helps to prevent rolling."
