That Taiwan quake was definitely a big one! They say it generated a tsunami and a 3' wave was headed towards the Philippines - then I heard the tsunami warning had been cancelled.

I'm wondering when the next big one it going to hit Cali, we haven't had one here in a while, and there's been quite a few all over in other regions. There hasnt been a big one since northridge, and that wasn't that big, just caused a lot of damage.

Time to get that survival kit together.

There was an earthquake in southern England the other day. It was probably ~0.02 on the Richter scale. 3 whole streets in Folkestone had to be evacuated. Big deal. San Andreas etc sounds a bit more interesting.

I was in my school dorm (Cal Poly Pomona) when the Northridge quake hit. Felt it real strong there (~70 miles away from epicenter). Of course, when it happened, I didn't know it was in Northridge where my folks live. Their house was spared structural damage but their neighbors (and friends) house got trashed.

BTW, things in my folks house only fell off of the east and west walls. Items on the north and south walls were fine! Must have been a strong side-to-side shaker.
