It seems to me, that the Coolpix 775 is the most bang for the buck... what does everyone else thing? My next camera up, would probably be the the Olympus 4040...

I'm looking at that camera right now.
The long exposure ability, remote shutter release, video out, and all those manual settings are quite attractive.

re: NikonCoolpix 885, but only two apertures and a lag between pushing the button and shutter release - not so important for Stingmon's indoor shooting though...
That http://www.dpreview.com/ is one heck of a comprehensive site! I am going to find the camera I want here, I'm afraid..:>) ...With several sample pictures from each of the the cameras - all the particulars, reviews from owners, wow! Thanks John.

Ted, check out Price Grabber! They show you SHIPPING (and tax) costs, so you can see at a glance what the TOTAL is!

Dude... cold? Yeah! I haven't used my A/C for 2 days now (well, except for right now, since I just got home and my main PC is running a little warm). Weather.com says it is going to be 45f tonight! Proabably was that last night! I guess summer is over

.

For those of you that DO NOT live in So. Ca, the difference between winter and summer is, that during the windter you wear a jacket sometimes
smile.gif
... oh, and it rains every now and again
smile.gif
, that's about it
smile.gif
.

Ted, don't you hate it when people refer to parts of the year by the season, example: "this spring I'll go to Disneyland". Huh?! When is spring? When is Winter for that matter? It's not that obvious around here
smile.gif
... Oh, and I have heard that there are more than two colors of leafs some places?!!? Hard to believe there is more than green and brown
smile.gif
... actually, there is a tree across the street from me that actually has some orange, but mostly, yellow leafs... wIlD Huh

?!

Yeah, my fave is probably DPreview, I have been checking them out for months now!

Hey, what is the name of that digi cam review site, where most of the guys pictures are OF Disneyland? Wow... some job that must be! "Oh darn, gotta go to D-land again, and WORK!" haha

I would check out the reviews on something like Digital Photo Review.

http://www.dpreview.com/

For Craigs purposes, I'd take a careful look at manual settings, macro distance (for close ups) and long exposure times.

Personally, if I was to get a camera right now I'd look closely at the Nikon 885, Canon Powershot G1 and the Olympus 3040Z, leaning towards the Canon G1 with an additional macro lens.

I think the Canon and the Olympus are better in most every way except macro capability. The Canon has a macro lens available, and supposedly so does the Olympus, but I haven't been able to find anywhere that actually sells the Olympus lens.
