Surefire L1 Mod: UW0J

I have a couple of SF L1's (newer Lux III model) that I don't use. One with red, one with blue LED.

It seems like swapping the current color LED a white UW0J should work. I didn't plan on modding the board or the optics (but I could be persuaded :naughty: )

Any suggestions?

Putting in a UWOJ will probably give you a brighter L1. It might not jump out and grab you, but it likely will be brighter.

Of course, its conceivable that there is a U bin performing LED in your L1 now, and you wouldn't see an improvement, but that isn't likely.

Replacing the optic with a reflector would give you a useful spill beam, but you would lose some throw. It just depends on what you want from the light. I find a light with all throw and no spill to be much less useful for my purposes.
