Here is my latest mod,

UltraFire WF-602A ("The first L1P clone") with a XR7090WT-U1-WG-P3-0001.

The tint is like the (bluish) XO Luxeon one. It´s my favourite tint ;)

The beam with the stock reflector has a hole in the middle :(, but the reflector was never designed for a CREE LED ;)

I have tried my Nuwai QIII reflector with orange peel coating and the beam was a smooooth flood. (Sorry for taking no pictures of that)

BTW, this little LED is bright :sold:
Driven on 350mA and equal to my TXOJ on 700mA :goodjob:
Questions, encouragements and free samples for testing are welcome

Cheers,
Flo

Im wondering if the ultrafire 2xAA light with the Seoul led, would be a good host. It drives the led pretty good (more so than 1xAA I mean), and it has a deep reflector.

They'll be constantly better than the last one YOU just bought!

Has it been 18 months already?!?!?

Awesome mod!

I signed up in the Cree groupbuy with that very same light (UltraFire) in mind to mod. The other light I want to mog is my 2AA Aurora (=Riverrock) that uses optics.

@IsaacHayes: The UltraFire 601A would be a nice host, maybe Dae send me one ;)
@-FX-: Yes of course my german friend :dedhorse:
It´s a nice Canon A610 with awesome macro-mode.

@Manzerick & KnOeFz: Thanks for cheering up and I hope also that Fenix & Co will produce XR-E based lights :)

@Boomerang: :lolsign: 8 months ago the Cree 7090 XR arrived fresh and bloody ;) The brightness was far away form Luxeon and I thought that Lumileds would top them always, but times have changed ;)

darn, i was looking forward to buying a jetbeam, but now that this new led came out... i'm gonna have to wait for a single cell light with the xr-e... darn. i wonder how the beam of a u2 modded with xr-e would look... hmm.

I have used the QIII metal reflector in a few LuxIII mods and really like the spill
that it gives. Glad to see it working out in your mod.
Hope we can still continue to buy these reflectors as separate parts.

You might try grinding off a little of the reflector, at the entry hole, so you can get the LED at the focus spot.

The donut you have is because it is not at the focus spot of your reflector.

Probably work down, say 0.020" at a time.

I assume you alreadly tried to fully seated the reflector to the LED already.

This is exactly what I planned. I already have one with a BB666 built in. It is sitting on my desk waiting for the Cree. The original Driver and the Seoul LED are used by my brother now.

Yup, I have one sitting apart that I was going to put a SX0H star in, but I haven't gotten to it yet, and now I'm thinking maybe the cree...
