SOLD OUT Surefire Z57 Delrin TG (3rd Run)

Back by popular demand, this will be the 3rd run.

What Is It?

The TailGuards are a replacement for the stock retaining ring in the Z57.
The TG will extend the ridges of the tailcap and protect the rubber boot, enabling 'candle mode'
and prevent the switch from accidental activiation. OTOH, activating will become more difficult.

'Waterproofness' *should* be the same as stock parts.

Material is Black Delrin. Nothing has changed from the 1st run.

These will fit the Z57(HA Natural) or the Z61(HA Black) clicky tailcap for the Surefire E series.
They can not be used for the twisty Z52 LOTC.

Price $US3.00 each. Price has gone down due to the larger number machined.
Paypal only (any kind) please. If they sell out, I will make a tidy profit, enough to enjoy a
few cups of vending machine coffee. Please do not ask for discounts.

Shipping and Handling: $US2. This includes the cost of ordinary airmail in a padded envelope,
PP fees etc. regardless of number of pieces or destination.
EMS (insured/trackable/faster) at cost to available countries.

Ordering
Please send me an email through the link in my profile (PM is disabled) indicating your...

- CPF username
- # of pieces
- Real Name
- Shipping Address
- Email address

I will send you an email with payment instructions as soon as I have your package ready to ship.
Am rather busy so will not send shipping confirmation. If you post in the thread that you have
sent payment, I will post your shipping status when I have the chance.

Expect 7-10 days for delivery and let me know if you do not receive your order within 2 weeks.

Thanks for looking :)

Re: Surefire Z57 Delrin Tail Guards (3rd Run)

Some addtional info.
Original thread... Surefire Z57 Mod
2nd Run 2nd Run Delrin Tailguards for SF Z57 (2nd Run)

How To Open a Z57
- Heat the switch to loosen the Loctite (or whatever they use at Surefire) by either of the
following methods.
Seal in a small Ziploc bag and boil in hot water for a few minutes, or use a heatgun.
Avoid aiming directly at the rubber boot.

- Grip in a beltwrench and use needle nose plyers/snap ring pliers to twist the retaining ring CCW.
This bicycle tool - Shimano Peg Spanner (search TL-FC20)- happens to fit the notches
perfectly too.
Be careful and use slow/steady pressure to turn. The tool can slip easily and scratch the HA finish.

In case you scatter the innards, here is a pic showing the components in order.

Securing the Tailguard
If you are worried that the TG will unscrew and fall off, use a drop of super glue on the threads.

Fixing a Stiff Z57
If you have a stiff Z57, you might want to check out the following threads. CPF classics.
I want to fix your stiff L4/Z57 "clickie" switch! by LitFuse
Check post #29 and #77

L4 clickie repair instructions.. by JHanko
This is the broken link in post #77 above and is where Ratdog introduced the source for the washers
(post #13).

Please post questions in the thread, it would be better if everone can share the info.

You can also remove the retaining ring with snap ring pliers. Just take your time, I've
removed 7 or 8 this way. Steady pressure and they popped right loose. Don't want to
ruin your thread Nekomane, I'll be ordering some of these myself, very nice rings.
Thanks!

Hmm, nothing wrong but my emails may be getting caught in your spam filter? I will temporarily activate PM
and send through that channel. No worries.
