I recieved as a rebate (bought a ACR PLB) an ACR DivRes-Q Firefly Plus strobe/flashlight combo. It runs on a pair of AA's. Any easy way to covert to LED flashlight? Not worried to much about brightness, just battery life while using the flashlight in an emergency.

I made one. I had ordered one of the Lambda PR based LEDs but it didn't work because the polarity of the light is backwards from typical. So I soldered one of the SMJLEDs into an old PR base and put it in the light. If I was doing it again I would include a small 1 or two ohm resister to help stabilize the current. I am using lithium AAs for weight, shelf life, and low temperature performance so that gives a bit more voltage to work with.

If you want something premade then this might work:

Looks like the TLE-5 White and the TerraLUX BA-1 Bulb Adapter might work. From the picture it would seem that you could insert the pins the other way to match the polarity of the flashlight.

But I have no idea of this would actually fit or if you would
have to modify the reflector.
