Hi all

We have a little competition coming up in class.

Which is the most powerful efficent(I know its an oxymoron) LED to be ran off the mains. Is it a Lux I or Lux III or K2? random bins. or is there no answer?

The answer is not easy IMO. It depends what you are looking for. Simply overall output reference to power consumption? If so, the answer could be the Cree XR-E.
But to concentrate the hotspot through an reflector isn't as good as a LuxI or LuxIII.
But with an optical lense it's another game, with much less sidespill.The K2 is out of the run in therms of efficiency IMO.

My favourite Led in therms of efficiency, output and color tint is a LuxIII: UX1J at the moment.

Better would be an U--H bin, but it's not available at the moment.

you can't run them off the mains.... you need a driver for them or they will degrade faster then the speed of light.

oh yes. correction.
i will be using a constant current source.
so which has more lumen in general?
1.2W LuxI, 1.2W Lux3 or 1.2W K2
and 3W Lux3 vs 3W K2.
I am constrained by the wattage. it has to be 1.2W and 3W.
