This looks like BS so I didn't go to the link so kindly provided by the "aCCCounting dept." Should the real PP be notified or is this common?

Thanks for any advice.

It's very common. Paypal would never send you an email with a sign-in link. Report it right away to Paypal.

If your curious, open a new browser and sign in at the real paypal site and check your account for recent activity.

If you get the phishing emails, never click on any of the links, just delete them or forward them to "[email protected]", or for ebay scams, "[email protected]". The sooner they get reports on the phishing emails, the sooner they can get them shutdown and hopefully they eventually catch and prosecute the badguys that are trying to steal from folks.

In nearly all cases the link they give you looks like an actual PayPal address but in my email program when I scroll over a link it shows what it REALLY links to and that is almost always a non-PayPal address. I suspect the above links were copied and pasted in a way that do not take you to the embedded actual link the Phishers want you to go to. Either way NEVER click on stuff like this in an email. Go directly to PayPal and see what is going on - which usually is nothing. Forward such emails to PayPal : [email protected]
I often trace the source as my email program has detail header info, then contact the ISP they came from filing an abuse report. I've gotten fake web sites shut down this way before I even sent reports to PayPal.

Folks the "warnings" about ongoing & new phishing attempts are certainly appreciated...

- HOWEVER ---> PLEASE don't post the suspected fraudulent link for others (who may not be thinking about safe computing) to perhaps click on.
:thanks:

I get about 3 to 5 PayPal spoofs and anywhere from 3 to 15 ebay spoofs a week... most of the ebay ones come from bidding on Motorcycles and are fake second chance offers.

I got one today, and wanted others to be aware... it was VERY convincing! I've forwarded it to [email protected] and they immediately confirmed that it was not sent from Paypal.com! I took a screenshot just so you could see how "official" it appeared.

Notice: When you put your mouse over the "Dispute Transaction" link, the website that it really links to is highlighted down below in the screenshot.

Also, the reason that the text looks all funky, is because I saved the screenshot in a low-quality jpg format, so that this page would load quickly. But, in the real e-mail, it looked seamless, just like a real message from PayPal. A higher res picture can be found here.

best advice - don't click on the provided link, go directly to paypal to look at your own account. They look real, but they aren't.

this bears repeating ....
