Where should I buy a Chinese light?

I want a good, cheap, cool looking, powerful Chinese light. Does anybody know of a good website for that? I don't want to get ripped off. Any suggestions on a light would also be appreciated. The light does not necessarily have to be Chinese, but it does have to be good, cheap, cool looking, and powerful. Thanks.

I'd suggest buying one that is marketed by one of the US companies for some consitency in quality control. You're also less likely to get ripped off even though you'll be paying about the same prices that you might pay directly to a vendor in Asia. Companies like Streamlight, Dorcy, Garrity, Brinkmann, et al, all have some decent products being produced in part if not entirely in China. One of the best and most affordable products that is made partly of Chinese produced components is probably the SL PP 4AA and 3C Luxeons, both are in the price range of lower quality lights and many of the lights that are not sold through US stores.

So how does the U.S. company pay tarriffs, customs brokerage, shipping, packaging, marketing, and distribution, and you still end up paying about the same price as you would pay to a vendor directly in Asia? I think the answer will come to you real quick. :(

I've bought a lot from http://stores.ebay.com/eHobby-Asia-Airsoft-Supplier, it's an ebay store, and it seems to be pretty good but you are dealing with someone in Hong Kong so slow shipping and the rest is a given. The price is great for what they do have tho. As mentioned before lighthound.com is also great. You may pay a little more but quicker shipping and great service is guarantied when you order from them.

Depends on how much you have to spend and what kind of light you want (thrower vs. floody), Art.

If you want a floody with a decent throw, I'd get the Huntlight FT-01 from Jon at JSBURLY'S. The T-binned model costs $35 and the U-binned costs $68, both are the cheapest prices available online, I've checked. Not to mention Jon is a great to do business with.

If you want a pocketable, quality thrower, I'd get the VB-16 HAIII from Waion in the Dealers' section. It throws about as far as LuxIIIs can throw, it's adjustable in output, and goes for $55 including shipping.

If you buy cheap you will get crap. 10 lights ($100) later you will decide it is better to buy 1 good torch for $30-$40 in the 1st place.

Voted best flashlight of the year on CPF - Fenix L1P $37.95 (AA clickie)

Runner up for best flashlight of the year on CPF - Streamlight propolymer 4AA luxeon. $31.95. Do NOT get the 7 LED version. I've seen prices below $30. Didn't bookmark them. Sorry.

Another vote the Civictor V1 or Fenix L1S (1AA), or E1 or LOP-SE (1AAA) from Fenix-store.com, or the Streamlight ProPoly Lux (4AA) from Fox-intl.com. I have them all, and all are great lights for the price.

If you want to experiment with cheap lights, fifthunit.com and qualitychinagoods.com are your respectible choices. Delt with both, and they are good. Quality of the lights is often quite poor however - read up around here on specific models before you make a purchase. There are a few decent buys in their collections, but typically only at the higher prices (where you are probably best sticking with Fenix anyway).

There's a post in the dealer's corner selling TriLux 3x3W for around 65 dollars.

I've got good deals on fifthunit also, but just know somethings aren't the highest quality and the shipping does take awhile--but their pricing is excellent. If you know what you're buying, and you're not in a rush, it's a good place to buy. I've never had to use their customer service, but some say they are very pleasant and take care of things.

I do agree that you get what you pay for, however I have been very impressed with a number of lights that I have bought from fifth unit
