Optics/Reflectors for Cree

I've been trying to search/read about the cree leds and optics/reflectors for them in my spare time. I guess I've haven't fully searched enough, but what are the best options for using with these leds? I've seen a thread about throw with a cree using a larger lens, but couldn't find that particular part number from the link provided(probably ordered out by CPF members).

I want a bow light for a canoe for paddling at night and need as much throw as possible in order to see what is coming ahead.

Since it sound like it might be on for long periods of time you might want to look at bicycle style lamps - some of them are fairly high power and have battery packs heavier than you would normally hand hold but they will run longer and can be recharged.

Yes the surplus lenses at bgmicro was sold out because of CPF!

Not sure how well the 8* cree optics do. I don't think anyone has any samples yet??
