I did it! Cree XR-E P3 WC in a McLux PD!! It's so much brighter!!
I'm confident enough to offer it as a mod here: XRE PD mod

It uses the same mcR-20 reflector but slightly modded.
No modding to the head.

**PICTURE UPDATE**

Thanks for steven at tacticalsupply.com for lending me his McLux PD TYOJ Wiz2x2.

Ignore the bystander to the right :)

Interesting!
So you are modding the reflector and exchange the LED without affecting the rest of the light then?

How about McLux-T and Ti-PD lights?
And Lights with Joker reflectors?

The first obvious question is going to have to be, how about some more info. Pics,runtime,beam-pattern. You've got me hanging on the edge of my seat.

This mod will actually work with any McR-20 lights :)

Low and high? Is low real bright too?

Yep, they are both higher. I only have one PD so I can't do comparison
shots. Unless someone wants to loan me one :) My PD has the new GDx2.

no picts yet. I'm too beat for tonight. Maybe tommorrow.
Runtime should be the same, if not better. The XR-E tend to have a lower
Vf. :)

Will this have the hotter and smaller spot and wider corona you mentioned in your previous mod thread about the McR-20? Meaning a beam mroe similar to a LuxIII in a McR-27 than the beam profile of the original PD?

PM me your number 4sevens... I'll get together with you with my PD for beamshots, or you can borrow mine if you want.

Lux Readings!

2050 at 1m :) But that doesn't do justice. the spot is bigger and
there is so much more flood. In candle mode, it lights up the room like
a Lux V!

Hot spot is wider, but it's very round and intense. Actually the profile
is identical to the A2 XRE mod. I have beamshots there! :)

I do have the Chromey laying around though.... :naughty:

I destroyed my UWOJ to upgrade, but it was really worth it!

My PD is a different light now!

I'm going to trust your judgement here 4sevens and send my PD for tweaking before the waiting list gets obscene. PM and Paypal away!

Of course it's yours!
But know there is risk involved in the hd45 because I haven't done it yet.
worse case, you'll need another reflector and lux III. :p
