Was thinking about picking up the Taskforce after reading the threads. Anyone compare it to the propoly? Not sure I want a 2C but if it's better than the Poly I'm headed to Lowes.

the taskforce uses an optic and the SL uses a reflector, so the beam characteristics are quite different.

the SL has a very tight hotspot with tons of spill
the taskforce has a more uniform and larger spot without much spill

Don't forget about the differences in regulation. It's one of the reasons I really like my SL4AA-Lux.

Well, I received my streamlight from UPS a little while ago. I put the batteries in, and man o man..WHAT a bright light! It's bright, but it's not night yet so I still have a while before I can REALLY test it out. The construction is extremely solid...ESPECIALLY for a non-metal light. I think what I like most about this light is that it's really powerful, but it's inexpensive so I can beat the hell out of it without feeling bad. Initial impressions: BUY ONE!

Don't forget about the Advanced Auto Parts 2C Luxeon that is virtually the same light as the Taskforce for $19.88. The Propoly may still be better, but not so much.

Have both lights but prefer the Task Force or its near twin Advanced Auto Parts 3 Watt light mostly for the way it feels in my hand. For throw and run time the Propoly wins . I do find with its narrow beam its almost like having a maglite led tightly focused ( The maglite though is brighter)
For my primary use a night walk navigating tool I don't find the greater throw of the ProPoly of any great significance. In fact I dislike its wide but dim spill beam I find the brighter spill beam of the Task Force much better for navigating . BTW with rechargeable NiMH C cells you can get more than 3 hours with the Task Force.
What the best light is depends strongly on its principal use and your beam preference/needs
