What's a good budget "LEGO" starter flashlight?

I'm building up a C3 if I can find the body, but I'm considering the E series/Aleph, though it seems to be difficult to get Aleph parts at this time.

Am I looking at the wrong flashlight to play LEGO or to build light engines for?

I'm so frustrated trying to get the parts I want, that I'm thinking about just buying a complete Aleph 2X123 UV and building an LE for it, while hunting some E series parts I like.

I just don't like throwing too much money into this, as I have other hobbies that need feeding! :)

Suggestions?

What are you wanting to use the light for? EDC, use in conjuction with a handgun, glove box light, hiking, etc...

What kind of light source are you planning on? LED, incan?

A C3 for the most part is quite a different beast from a 1 cel Aleph 2, for instance.

I'd just get the light you think you want now, and then start thinking about the 'LEGO' combinations. You can do a lot with any of the surefire thread compatible lights.
