Default Best rechargeable option for U2? Besides 18650...

Does anyone know if 2 of the BatteryStation 3.6v 900mah RCR123a would work? How would it handle all that extra voltage? Of course theres' the U2-Shorty option. My 17500 fits in there and of course the 17670 would. I'm somewhat tempted to get a wooden dowel wrapped with some sandpaper, put it on the end of my dremel and sand off the 1mm need to get an 18650 to fit. Aren't there 3.0V 900mah rechargeables? Any options that I'm missing?

A 17670 battery works better than any RCR123 batteries out there. I tried the RCR123 3.0v battery and the level brightness does not work properly.

I would not try using a dremel and a dowel, because it will take forever and you will not get a good finish. I found the aluminum is hardened fairly good where even when I reamed out my U2 it took some effort.
