When I go to browse an ad online such as the best buy weekly sale flyer, I only get scrambled text as it can't decode the web page (example follows). Any idea why? I thought it might be a security setting on either my anti-virus or firewall program but the problem does not occur on IE.

Example from trying to view the sears online weekly circular:

3P: CP="NON DSP TAIa PSAa PSDa OUR NOR IND ONL UNI COM NAV INT"

This is most likely because the stupid webmins who made the site are too stupid to code the site for other browsers and think the entire world still uses IE.

NO firefox = no $$ from me.

If I can't use YOUR website as I see fit they you ger no business from me. I use the mouse gestures and can't stand when a website diables 'right-click' because that's how I navigte(right click + drag right/left for forward/backward).

I know some visually imparied people use this too so tht diables right click crap blows. Fortunately I have an extension which disables the disable. :)

Guys, the reason I think it is a Firefox or maybe some other setting and not Firefox itself, per se is that this problem does not occur with my work pc also running Firefox 2.0. How are those online circulars coded, am I missing a plug-in?

Do you have a link for us to click on?

By the way, doesn't the FireFox IE plugin simply call IE--with all of its security issues? I don't know which security settings--like cookie settings--(IE or FireFox's) would be in effect for an IE window in FireFox.

I viewed the weekly Sears circular just fine...it appears to be a "Flash" animation. You will need to install the Flash viewer to view it correctly (I think.)

If you hate (or even just mildly dislike) Flash animations, there is an add-on for FireFox called Flashblock that works quite well for me. It replaces the Flash animation with an icon that you can click on to play the darned things...or not.

Hope this wasn't too far off base...it's just what I noticed about the ad in question.

There is another Flash Block that I now use instead... It is NoScript and Adblock Plus and Filterset G (although reading up on the adblockplus FAQ, they are recommending not to use Filterset G anymore as it can slow down browsing and has other issues too--going to try one their other filter programs now)...

It is pretty easy to turn flash on only when you want it, or some mix of options...

http://adblockplus.org

Between the above, I have a pretty clean browsing experience (few ads, pop-ups, and weird animations accross the screen) and few security problems.

I have been having problems with shoplocal.com at Sears and CompUSA. Same page error. I just check it in Konqueror in Linux and have no problem.

geepondy, your issue seems different. The traffic you posted is the normal web page headers. It's the actual traffic between your browser and the server. It's not a page rendering issue. Are you sure you don't have some kind of extension that displays browser headers?
