I did it, by the way, for the nicest computer in my house--the one I duilt for my dad. You can't change it, but there is an error in the poll (trust me, we've been reviewing this in math this week)

It sould be <100 Mhz and >1000

Oh well...

Come on Star. What kind of survey is this?

Exercise the brain.

AMD currently lists their slowest CPU as a 1GHz mobile Duron. Good luck trying to find a sub 1 GHz Intel CPU approaching a reasonable price. Yes, many people have MHz computers, but you've eliminated people who have GHz from your list cutting off at '<=901Mhz' sic. grumble. Message board won't let me include parenthesis.

What about Mac users? Are they SOL?

Heck, why not include processors starting with Intel 8080, or Motorola 6502. Or worse

Think more, write less.

Whoa.....easy there Rex......it would seem that this is a simple typo....as Saaby had already mentioned above in his post.

What star meant to type for the first option was:

<=100MHz {not >=100MHz that he typed}

and for the last option, he meant:

>=901Mhz {not <=901MHz that he typed}

The same thing applies to his use of the >< symbols in the memory section of his survey.

Might be time to read more, criticize less. Physician....heal thyself.

Light,

I did see the memory section. I didn't want to let my post get too out of hand.

Yes, I saw Saaby's 8:34 post but there were structural issues that needed to be addressed.

{Darn attack training sometimes kicks in.}

I'm done.

Heh Heh......I'll have to learn how to duck fast when I'm around you Rex.

I believe I get your meaning though. I think the problems with these polls is that once they are posted, I don't think they can be changed or even edited. Oh well.

Well even if he HAD included higher numbers where would I sit? It's 1.33 Ghz but it clocks up there with a 1.8i Ghz Intel...

So what kind of computer does everyone have? I'd take the poll again if I could for my laptop which is:
Toshiba
Pentium MMX
266 Mhz
Windows 2000
Uhhh...96Mb? I think so.
The 266 Mhz is where it gets tricky, I thought that 233 was the fastest before they stepped up to Pentium IIs...then again maybe it's just mildly overclocked from the factory.

Its my dads IBM (I Build it Myself

) that I can give you lots of specs on...

AMD Athlon XP 1800 (1.33 Ghz) on a Soyo Dragon K7+
256 Mb DDR memory
Windows 2000
~100 Ghz HD space
Viewsonic 17" Aperature Grill flat screen CRT

One of the nifty little features of his computer (for you Voicestream, Cingulair, and I don't know what else users) has a SIM reader, take the SIM card out of your phone and stick it in your computer and...update your phone book

Those are all the ones that are plugged in at the moment. I have several other unix and Mac machines co-located for server duty. The dual processor hardware is quite nice.

No windows machines anywhere anymore, so I'm one of the "Other" on your survey;) Can't help it, it's my job!

Today I am off to Anchorage to pick up a new Toshiba notebook. I need something a bit mobile and also good for a year or two and the Satellite 5105-S9101 looks like the one, its a 15" UXGA screen, 2.0 ghz, 60mgb HD, 512mgb RAM and is top of the model line for a desktop replacement and is more able to handle multimedia, its gonna set me back about $2800. What I am using right now is an Athlon 700mhz on an ASUS 1.2 ghz capable motherboard (not slow but very stable), 40 gig worth of 7200rpm drives, 256mgb (maybe more)RAM, some killer and pricey video and sound cards I forget what type (they were the most expensive ones two years ago, guess they are obsolete now!), and it was custom built by a friend of mine, I installed additional CPU and video card heatsinks and cooling fans myself. The monitor is a 19" Sylvania and I use an optical Logitech rollerball mouse.

Give me a DELL and I will use it for target practice......
