I'd bet anything that pops up in the next 60 days saying 250 lumens a1.0A is based off the Cree, its just to close in specs, I'm just happy they exist no matter who makes them. Now get me a 250 lumen LED for my 2D Mag.

Are they using a high dome? Maybe this would make a better mod then the cree as we could use our current reflectors.

I hope the slug of the emitter is not connected to the anode like the LED from Seoul Semiconductor.

If the slug is connected to the cathode it could be a direct replacement for the Luxeon and that in itself would make it very interesting. If you look at the other company's products, it will likely also be available on a star.

Sweet. Soon we'll have high lumen Lux compatable drop ins for our old lights. C'mon more Lux compatable LEDs, upgrades for Fenix's and HDSs.

Has anyone ever purchased from Edison Opto?

I'd be interested in hearing about their leds from someone who has handled and tested a few of them.

Wasn't there someone on ebay selling Edison Opto emitters and stars?

their product names seems to be trying to copy others, like "Edixeon" LEDs :p

We nee to get this into the hands of one of our CPF tech support (eg Newbie) to really get the low down/numbers on these. So many claims but we need real world proof.

For anyone who is curious, the Europe & US Sales Manager is a fellow named Eddy Kao.

Eddy Kao
Edison Opto Corporation
Europe & US Sales Manager
Tel: 886-2-8227-6996 EXT:139
Fax: 886-2-8227-6997

Skype: eddy.kao
Mail: [email protected]

I contacted them a while back to see if there was a North American dealer/rep that I could purchase from and was told at the time that there wasn't.

Other than that, they seem to be a bit of an led enigma.

Anybody tried a Edison Opto LED?

Anybody?? 3,5, 10, or 20 watt array?

Does anyone know if Edison Opto is a contender or just a pretender???

Do the high power 10 & 20 LEDs they show on their website exist or are they alive only on paper?

Much ado about vapourware?

They do exist. See this thread.
As for 5W and 3W, they have ugly yellowish artifacts caused by the silicone layer. Edi 5W, Mag 3D, 9*AA and custom variable Iout driver:

HDS U60GT in the same conditions for comparision:

This article from LEDS Magazine confirmed my suspicion that this is indded a Cree based LED: http://ledsmagazine.com/articles/news/3/12/11/1
The thing in that press release that most catches my eye is towards the bottom: a claim of 70 lm at 350mA in a warm white led. To date, other warm whites have lagged far behind the higher color temperature white LEDs. A number of people simply don't care for the higher color temperature light of standard white LEDs. I wonder what the highest flux bin in a warm white Luxeon has been seen by anyone here.
