Advice on 5mm led

Hi !

What is actually the best replacement for a 5mm led in terms of brightness ? I would like to upgrade various lights that use 5 mm led. Most of my lights uses 4,5v or 6v. They were bright 2 years ago but I guess there is some led a lot brighter now. Any suggestions ?

If you don't care about beam pattern and color, the JELED is a very bright LED. If you want more consistent pattern and better color, consider BestHongKong's ultra white series.

The sandwich shoppe sells uncut MJLED highpower white LED's. These are very nice but relatively expensive. I don't think they are included in the white LED testing linked above (?)

Since the shape or color is not a big concern for me, I will go for mjled, they seems to be very very bright, it will give a new life to my flashlights!

You can buy the uncut MJLED as suggested by EngrPaul. $15 for 5.

You can buy the cut MJLED and cut and uncut SMJLED 4die (reviewed in LumenHound's link) Prices vary depending on type and quantity.
The cut version are optmised for lights with reflectors. Use uncut versions otherwise.

Note I have only bought one item from each E-bay seller so far All from Hong Kong to NY state

jeledhk , bought end of Oct, 1 week for shipping , 50K mcf 5 mm leds white. Good so far

ivehk , bought Nov 2 1 week shipping , 18K mcf 5 mm led green. Worked but just wanted to see how green was

topbright88, bought mid Nov, 16 days shipping, 80K 5mm warm white 10mm LED. 10 mm is BIG
