Got my new-gen FL12 from LumaRay this week and took it out for a walk tonight. This is the best cluster head I've ever had! The spot mode has some really good throw and the area or flood mode can light up 12 to 15 feet. So this is going to be my last light purchase. No, really!

I considered a LumaRay for my first "real" light, back in January. I went with the ProPoly instead because of its lower price and sweet regulation. $120 seemed way too much for an array of 5mm emitters in direct drive.

Challenge to modders out there who have a LumaRay:

Change the 5mm LEDs to XR-Es, regulate each one, swap out the collimators for nice glass aspherics, and replace the six central "flooder" LEDs with a single, uncollimated XR-E. (I don't think alk C cells could provide even close to enough current for that, though.) I'd buy one for sure. (LumaRay, are you reading this? :grin2: )
