Thinking about sacrificing a MN03 LA to mount a 3 or 5mm LED on it to use in an E1e. Anyone done this? I guess I would need one that had a low enough operating voltage (3V or a little less) that could handle the current. I have 2 of the Nichia "U" 5mm from the shop, but they only run brigh on a 3.6V RCR123, on primaries its dim. Hints?

with that solution you should get a low voltage with about 2.27V

Hope that helps :rock::rock::rock:

I'm sure the original poster finds a differential equation for neuron signals both relevant and useful to solve a basic electrical circuit problem :thumbsdow:thumbsdow Two thumbs down.

What's wrong in using RCR123's? Free lumens baby!

You would have to go with a non-white (or non-blue) LED to go below 3V supply voltage.

5mm Led's are typically a compromise of whitest or brightest. It's hard to find both attributes in a 5mm LED.

Is the MN03 an optic or reflector?
If reflector try this

According to testing by jtr1962 Vf of the SMJLED is 2.78 & the Nichia CS is 3.24.

I only have an older MJLED. On 2AA it is much brighter than the Nichia CS. The Nichia just starts to glow, not producing much light even when I put in L92 lithiuns.

A SMJLED with a small series resistor (0.1-0.5 ohm) should be about right for a primary CR123 i think...
