Does/should CPF have an official theme tune?

At the moment, I'm spending a bit of time in the workshop with a soldering iron (seems my entire Scout Troop want a ROP each!) and I usually find myself hummming or whistling something as I work.

My current leaders are "Always look on the bright side of life" or "Blinded by the light".

What do you guys reckon?

Shirley Bassy, "Light my fire" a most excellent version.

"It take two" not sure about the best version but includes the lines (link)
One can wish upon a star
Two can make that wish come true, yeah
One can stand alone in the dark
Two can make the light shine through

Almost perfect for playing as a background to those threads "which should I choose, either .... or ...?". and the answer rings out "buy both".

Cheers

How about "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin

Here's a little song i wrote,
you might want to sing it note for note,
don't worry, be happy

in every life we have some trouble,
when you worry you make it double
don't worry, be happy

dont worry be happy now
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
dont worry be happy
aint got no place to lay your head,
somebody came and took your bed,
don't worry, be happy

the landlord say your rent is late,
he may have to litagate,
dont worry (small laugh) be happy,

look at me im happy,
don't worry, be happy

i give you my phone number,
when your worried, call me,
i make you happy

don't worry, be happy

aint got no cash, aint got no style,
aint got no gal to make you smile
but don't worry, be happy

cos when you worry, your face will frown,
and that will bring everybody down,
so don't worry, be happy

don't worry, be happy now...

don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy
don't worry, be happy

now there this song i wrote
i hope you you learned it note for note
like good little children

dont worry be happy

listen to what i say
in your life expect some trouble
when you worry you make it double
dont worry be happy
be happy now

dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry, be happy
dont worry
dont worry be happy
don't worry, don't worry, don't do it,
be happy, put a smile on your face,
don't bring everybody down like this

don't worry, it will soon pass whatever it is,
don't worry, be happy,
i'm not worried

It should be something modern... and electronic... Something you can set your SOS strobe and dance to.

After a quick search the best candidate looks like:-

Carrying A Torch
by Van Morrison

I'm carryin' a torch for you
I'm carryin' a torch
You know how much it costs
yellowlaugh.gif

To keep carryin' a torch
Flame of love it burns so bright
sold.gif

That is my desire
Keep on liftin' me, liftin' me up
Higher and higher

You're the keeper of the flame
And you burn so bright
Baby why don't we re-connect
Move into the light
happy14.gif

I've been going to and fro on this
And I'm still carryin' a torch
You must know how much it's worth
When I'm carryin' a torch (alright)

Baby you're the keeper of the flame
And you burn so bright
Why, why, why, why, why, why don't we re-connect
And move on further, into the light

I've been calling you on the phone
'Cause I'm carryin' a torch (yeah)
I can do it all on my own
'Cause I'm carryin' a torch

I'm carryin' a torch for you, baby
I'm carryin' a torch
You know how much it's worth
Because I'm carryin' a torch (one more)

I'm carryin' a torch for you, baby
I'm carryin' a torch
You know how much it's worth

Good Choices:
Doors - "Light My Fire"
Timbuk3 - "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades"

Bad Choices:
Debbie Boone - "You Light Up My Life"
Taditional - "This Little Light of Mine"

I actually kind of like "This Little Light of Mine" as a theme song. I can hear it in my mind coming on as a MIDI file when you login. Minus 1 on Timbuk3, though :sick2:

"Limelight" by Rush :grin2:

Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage

Cast in this unlikely role,
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact

Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem

Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme

Living in a fisheye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I cant pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

All the worlds indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each anothers audience
Outside the gilded cage

 Oh god no! No cheesy MIDI. That's so 1987'ish. I remember the time where 99% of evey website had some annoying sound embedded, and this was WAY before DSL/cable hishg speed. What were those people thinking???? Worse yet when it loaded early in the page.

Ugh...now I'm going to have to do somehting to wipe out those few neurons that are bringin back those terrible sounds. Pass the tequilla.

:lolsign: How about one of those birthday cards that plays "Happy Birthday" when you open it?

I like the idea of a theme. Disclaimer: I keep my computer speakers OFF.

Here'e a few tunes that come to mind:
 • Whatever Gets You Through the Night -- John Lennon
 • Here Comes the Sun -- The Beatles
 • Help Me Make it Through the Night -- Elvis Presley
 • What a Life I've LED -- The Hollies
 • Love LED Us Here -- The Muppets
 • LED On and Left to Die -- Radiostar SF (Perhaps a good theme for Roy's runtime tests.)
...of course, Mrs Umbra suggests Wasted Days and Wasted Nights by Freddy Fender. :D
