I'm thinking of getting an A19 Aleph head as soon as they are available, and was considering a Cree with a Flupic for the Light Engine. I would be running this on a single 123 body. Anybody have any thoughts on the positives or negatives with this set-up.

Yes I've got one modded just like that by CM. It's a great setup, and very nice to have both the long efficient runtime and the blazing bright output. You will have to run it on a Li-Ion cell (RCR123) to get the high outputs as the input voltage needs to be higher than the Vf of the LED. The only negative thing IMO with this setup is that regulation isn't flat. It's more like what you would see in a light driven directly from a Li-Ion cell which isn't too bad because of the Li-Ion's rather constant voltage. But I *can* see and measure a difference in output between start and finish of the runtime. This goes for all the levels as far as I can see.
