Re: WTB or trade Ti A1 head for Ti A19 head

Before you think of trading this, read Don's sticky thread in the McGizmo forum
relating to Cree and more specifically Seoul leds!!

Seoul leds will be in circulation very soon ie. maybe January.

According to Don, the Shoppe will be selling Seoul L.Es that
can screw into existing Aleph-1 lights and he will also be producing
McR27S reflectors that will fit in Aleph-1 heads (if I understand what
he is saying correctly).

The Seoul led is just as powerful as the Cree as it uses the same chip,
but with a more Lambertian distribution.

So we will still be able to have our existing Aleph-1 heads but with
new life breathed into them to produce an even more powerful throw
than before.

I just read McGizmo's thread. VERY INTERESTING and GREAT NEWS.

Good luck on finding a Ti A19 head, Fringe!

Thank you dmdrewitt - I think its great to know that Aleph1s and Aleph3s
will be able to use these light engines with very little modification.

I'm hoping that McR38S reflectors (for the Aleph3) will also be produced.

Hi guys,
The McR-27-S I have on order is a deep reflector and not compatible with the Aleph 1. The original McR-27 in the Aleph 1 will work fine with the Seoul LE, as is. There is no current plans to order more of the McR-38 reflectors as Wayne or I have no need for them and there has not been any OEM or builder to approach me with a need justifying a reorder. I would want to know that the Lion's share of these reflectors had a home other than my shelves before I went ahead and ordered another run. Sorry.

What is a reasonable minimum order for reflectors, one hundred, hundreds, or more?...I'm not being a smart arse, I really have no idea.

I usually have a minimum of 500 reflectors for an order. In the case of the larger reflectors like the McR-38, I might have an order for 300 pieces accepted by the mfg at a higher unit cost.

This is OT but since Fringe has closed the thread for the time being, what the heck! :nana:

I wish some ordinary McR27s were available :(

I modified my spare one hoping to make it Cree compatible (but
its not the best reflector for using with a Cree)

One of my Aleph1's has a joker luxeon in it, so if I replace the L.E.
with a Seoul luxeon, I'd rather have a ordinary non-joker McR27.
