rechargeable battery/lamp combos in a SF M3

I'm considering getting an M3, but I want to research the different rechargeable (protected only) battery configurations and different lamp possibilities. Does the body fit an 18mm cell, or am I limited to the 17's? What different setups do you M3 owners use, and what do you recommend?

I'm sure this has been covered here before, but I keep getting a fatal error when I try the search function.

Protected 17500's work in the M3 without modification (though Pila's may need JS Burly's Pila spring). With an extender, you can use two 17670's. As far as 18650's, you would need an M4 body bored out, or pick up one of Leef's 18650 bodies when available: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=134688

I just bored out an M3 with an A19 extender to run 2x18650's for another forum member. it works like a charm, and is easy with the right tools.

Some members have reported that the metal gets a little thin near the second o-ring on the tailcap of the M3 body when bored out.

its thinner than it was, but its still thicker than a gum wrapper!

For me, its an M3Turbo, with an A19 extender and two Pila 168S (now called 600S). Stock HOLA. Great light.

Sorry, don't know. I generally use my lights in small doses and then recharge.
