The Brinkmann Nexstar bulb is a xenon bipin lamp for the 2AA Brinkmann Nexstar flashlight. It also fits the 2AA and 2AAA Mini Maglites, where it provises a substantial increase in whiter and brighter light. Aside from this lamp, I don't think Brinkmann's larger flashlighs offer anything of an improvement over a Maglite; unless in some discount stores they may be less expensive. Maglites are designed to be tough, reliable lights, and they are. There are newer, brighter flashlights, most made of various polymers, but Maglite pretty well defines the heavy duty aluminum flashlight. The 3D is their largest seller; many to LEO agencies. They are reasonably bright, and make a good emergency baton, a la Rodney King.
I like Maglites; I still use the very first one i bought. The relatively few Brinkmann lights I've purchased over the years have been dissapointing, with the exception of discovering the Nexstar lamp will fit the much smaller Mini Maglite. My Nexstar light itself has long been retired to a dusty shelf, minus the lamp.
