I have had the E0 for a week now. Really like the tiny light. I was wondering if it can be modded. I don't see a way to remove the LED. I was thinking of replacing it with a more white LED. I didn't see any modded threads on the E0.

It's very easy to mod the E0, just push the pill out by pushing the LED from the head. The pills are all glued down but some come out easier than others. My black E0 is very easy to remove.

I modded two with the Sandwich Shoppe uncut high power LED. One was natural, one was black.

The natural one was epoxied-in and required quite a bit of careful scraping around the periphery of the printed circuit board to remove. The black one did not have this epoxy, and pushing on the LED was sufficient.

Since this LED wasn't tapered (as many are not), it required opening the hole in the reflector a bit. You can also polish the reflector while you have it apart.

I've had experience with the BestHongKong ultra white LED and the JELED. Despite having their own strengths, I still feel the Sandwich Shoppe LED has the most consistent white color and a smooth beam.

Look at post #77 here for beamshots:

I really like the E0 form factor. I can't even imagine the brightness with a CREE in it. But in the meantime, Newbie has done it already here:

What kind of LED are you thinking about putting in this little thing?
:santa:

Not sure yet. I like to have a little warmer light and keep a decent run time. I have the LOP-SE if I need a bright small light.
