The FifthUnit Vinet 6W LED is very bright, much brighter on high than L1P or Ultrafire 606 6W

It is comparable with Xenon CR123 torch using 7.2v bulb

How does it compare, output wise, with the P1D CE, anyone have both ?

Both use single CR123

I'll be able to tell you in about two weeks.

Typically these lights are direct drive 3W Lux's. They make great hosts for upgrades.

I have both.

Five minutes after turn-on, the Vinet measures 2094 lux at 1 meter, the P1D CE measures 2749. Fifteen minutes after turn-on, the Vinet measures 1876, the P1D CE measures 2727. I don't know the accuracy of my lux meter, but it's shown to be very linear in a few tests by measuring the same light at different distances. So the comparative results should be good. Of course, there'll be variation among individual lights.

The hot spot sizes of the two are roughly the same.

One reason I ask, is that the Vinet RT for me is only 0.7 hours on high, but a massive 4 hours on low, when the output is equivalent to L1P / UF602A1.

So, to me, an L1P, with turbo-boost !!

That is really excellent, thanks

Then of course there is the price comparison

Vinet @ $20, P1D CE @ $70 shipped

Um, doesn't the Vinet qualify as unobtanium, or is there some source other than the MIA fifthunit? Can it be had at any price?

Which type of CR123 did you use, 3v CR123, 3.0v RCR123 or 3.6v RCR123

I use 3.6v RCR, (4.2v+ after charge) very bright in Vinet.

Any idea how these figures translate roughly into lumens?

In the P1D CE, a 3 v. CR123 and 3.7 v. RCR123 produce the same light output. In the Vinet, I used a 3.7 v. RCR123. It's designed for this cell; a 3.0 volt CR123 produces a much lower light level.

Sorry, I don't have any way to measure total light output, and frankly it doesn't interest me much. The hot spots are about the same size, but the P1D CE is both brighter and has a brighter spill area, so its total output (lumens) would be greater than the Vinet. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how much.

That's great, thanks.

You just confirmed my own readings.

Using photo meter with exposure Values EV's

With 3.6v RCR123 EV14.0 on High setting.

Vinet with 3v CR123 EV11.7, which is less than the RCR123 3.6v on low setting EV12.7

Note: L1P gives EV12.5, same as Vinet on Low, Vinet gives 2x RT approx.
