A few more specifics would help... I'm not really familiar with the River Rock 2C, but it's a thrower, right?

Does he want:
- The same size factor?
- The same type of batteries (C cells)?
- Still LED?
- How about a price range?

According to flashlightreviews.com, the MagLED 3D has some of the highest Lux ratings for throw of any LED light. It might also be a form factor that he is comfortable with and used to, depending on his age and where he's going to be keeping this light. Might be worth a look! :)

Have you tried the ProPoly 3C? I can see by your sig that you have the 4AA version, and if you liked the 4AA, you'll like the 3C as well. I have reviews of the 4AA and 3C if you want to check them out.
