Hi Everyone, I just thought I'd share how I got my Cree's out of arctic alumina. I took a small precision screwdriver and using it like a chisel shaved off the alumina around the led. Then, I put the screwdriver and tapped it with the back of a small screwdriver all around the base of the LED being careful not to hit it too hard. I got 6 off a piece of aluminum, and only two sides of each LED were exposed. I only wound up chipping one of the PCB's, but all the LED's still work.

One other thing.... Striking at the center of the LED seemed to reduce the risk of damaging the boards, but it went something like tap-tap-tap -- shift the screwdriver a bit -- tap-tap-tap shift the screwdriver to the other open side tap-tap-tap -- it didn't take too long though.
