First mod posting & first photos... here goes.

I've had an XM-2 for a couple of years.
Nice light even though I generally perfer reflectors over optics.

With the improvments in leds this light sort of fell behind in the performance rankings.
So the first thing to do was open the bezel to accept an IMS27mm reflector.

Big improvement over the 20mm optic.
It was alot of work to open the bezel & trim down the reflector to fit.
There's no room for screwups with the thread diamentions.

I recently installed a few Cree XRE's into other lights and had to update this old friend.

Now at 450ma pushing a P-4 Cree I have a renewed suprize when I unsheath my one of a kind XM-27 Cree.
Beam shots have to wait untill I understand my camera better .

When will Cree mods (including some form of boost circuit) arrive for the MagLite series, in particular, the MiniMag? Mag seem to be behind the innovation, but they are good, solid torches.

Took comparison shots of a MagLed 3AA vs. My Cree-ation.
It's 100ft to the door.
The MMLed is at it's limit.

XM-Cree has range to spare still.

All that shows in the pictures is spot.
That's all there is with the MM.
Alot of usefull spill from the XM-Cree that I can't capture.
Still learning this camera.

Now for some indoor shots.
XM-Cree vs. MMLed And -1 on exposure.
The MMLed is really looking sad by comparison.

This is as bad as I can make the Cree look.
Outdoors it's excellent, 10ft off a white wall it's not perfect.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with how this XM mod turned out.
The hotspot looks to be covering about 5 times the area of the MM & quite abit brighter.
It's current well spent I think.

I wonder how well it will run on a Li ion rechargeable?
I think I can bore it out to take an 18650.
That should make a sweet setup.
